Special Benefits In
case of Death and Disability in Service – Payment of Ex-Gratia
Lump sum compensation to families of the Defence Service
personnel who die in harness . |
- The families of Defence Service
personnel who die in harness in the performance of their bonafide
official duties shall be paid the following ex-gratia lump sum
compensation:-

- The graded structure of ex
gratia lump sum compensation takes into account the
hardships and risks involved in certain assignments, the
intensity and magnitude of the tragedy and deprivation that
families of government servants experience on the demise of
the breadwinner in different circumstances, the expectations
of the employer from the employees to function in extreme
circumstances, etc. The compensation is intended to provide
an additional insurance and security to employees who are
required to function under trying circumstances and are
exposed to different kinds of risks in the performance of
their duties.

Ex-gratia Grant.
(b) Maharashtra Gaurav Puraskar Scheme. (c) Benevolent Fund. (d) Other concessions. (e) Hostels :- Numbers of Hostels are run for the welfare of children of
widows and Ex-Servicemen. The children of war widows/widows and orphan
are given free lodging and boarding in these hostels. For the other
ex-servicemen’s children the lodging is free however, the boarding is
subsidized in sliding scale. At present there are 48 Hostels (34 for
Boys & 14 for Girls). Detailed information with regard to hostels are

(f) Rest Houses :- There are 25 Rest Houses. Detailed information are

DOMICILE STATUS OF AN EX-SERVICE FOR AVAILING BENEFITS UNDER VARIOUS SCHEMES
Benefits under Central Government Schemes
The Central Govt. as well as State Govt. run various Welfare & resettlement schemes for the ex-servicemen & their dependents. The ex-servicemen can avail of the benefits under Central Govt. Schemes from any of the States where they reside.
Benefits of State Government Schemes
Whereas the benefits under the financial assistance schemes implemented by the Govt. of Maharashtra are limited to the ex-servicemen who are domicile of Maharashtra. For this reason to avail of the benefits of State Govt Schemes, the ZSWOs ask for domicile certificate.
Conditions for obtaining Domicile certificate of Maharashtra
As per the Govt. Resolution dt 24 Nov 2000 the ESM needs to comply with the following conditions, in order to obtain the domicile certificate of
Maharashtra:-

Should be domicile of the state by birth, or
-
Should have completed a specified period of 15 years stay in the
state either prior to joining the Armed Forces or after retirement
-
The period of Stay in the State while serving in the Armed Forces is not be considered for the grant of domicile status.
